Dr. Abdo graduated Louisiana State University School of Medicine and served his
internship and residency on the LSU service at Charity Hospital of Louisiana at New
Orleans. He was chief resident during his senior year and was awarded a one year
fellowship in pathology. Dr. Abdo was a full time otolaryngology faculty member at
LSU School of Medicine instructing medical students and otolaryngology residents, as
well as supervised the Julius Lempert Temporal Bone Laboratory which was founded by
a gift of equipment from Dr. Lempert's original New York laboratory. He served in an
army evacuation hospital unit (MASH) during the Berlin crises and Vietnam eras.
Dr. Abdo has pioneered many firsts in otolaryngology in Las Vegas and Nevada
including the first successful stapes surgery for the restoration of hearing, first LAUP for
relief of snoring and others. He was instrumental in obtaining surgical privileges for
facial plastic surgery for qualified otolaryngologists at Sunrise Hospital in 1972. Dr. Abdo has served as Secretary of Staff and Chief of Otolaryngology at Sunrise Hospital.
He has resided and practiced otolaryngology successfully in Las Vegas for 41 years, a
member of Clark County Medical Society for 41 years, married 51 years, has 7 children
and 15 grandchildren. He loves his family, the practice of otolaryngology and Lake
Tahoe.
