Welcome to the Balance Assessment Center of Nevada.
The Balance Assessment Center of Nevada is a consultative medical practice for the
evaluation of the patient with balance problems. Evaluation will be made with state
of the art technology. Treatment recommendations will be made and sent to the
referring practitioner. If appropriate, medical or physical treatment will be
initiated in house. Patients can include not only those with dizziness and vertigo,
but also, those with mobility limitations and those who are at risk for falls.

The office is just west of I-95 and between the Lake
Mead Dr. or W Cheyenne Avenue. There is no Smoke Ranch

Services Provided
The initial evaluation will include a physician examination with other testing that
will consist of a variety of hearing and balance tests. The exact testing will
depend on the specifics of the individual’s condition. Because of the time consuming
nature of some of the tests and the complexity of the conditions being evaluated, the
examination may take more than one visit.
Our Staff
Dr James H. Heroy, III, MD, FACS. heads the Balance Division. He was trained at Columbia
University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he went to Medical School, and finished
his training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in the department of Otolaryngology. After several
years on the Faculty of Johns Hopkins and private practice in the Baltimore area, he moved to
Las Vegas. He has been in practice here since 1997.
Some Conditions That Cause Dizziness and Vertigo
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (Calcium crystals floating free in the inner ear).
- Meniere’s Disease (Fluid pressure build up in the inner ear).
- Vestibular Neuritis (Degeneration of the balance nerv in an ear).
- Vertigo of Central Origin (to include dizziness following Stroke & Head Injury,
Neck Reflex Dizzyness, Degenerative Disorders, etc.).
- Atypical Migraine (Vascular Spasm).
- Hypoglycemia and blood pressure problems.
